Armenia Launches New Police Guard Service

"From today, we are opening a new page in history, and our expectation is that the Police Guard will be a qualitatively new service for the Republic of Armenia, for the citizens, and for the officers themselves." Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced this on November 1, during his visit on the occasion of the launch of the Police Guard service.

As a reminder, the Police Guard, one of the four pillar specialized services of the police, is being launched from November 1. The main tasks of the Guard are the protection of public order and ensuring public security, the protection of objects of critical state importance subject to state protection, as well as ensuring the security of the transportation of special cargo, participating in ensuring the legal regime of martial law and the legal regime of a state of emergency, as well as protecting the population in emergency situations, assisting in ensuring the security of persons subject to special state protection, and supporting the bodies conducting criminal proceedings.

It is worth noting that Hayk Babayan, who was dismissed from the post of Commander of the Police Troops of the RA and Deputy Chief of Police, has been appointed as the Commander of the Police Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
